On May 12, 2018 we held our 4th Fashion For Freedom Gala in support of A21
in the La Cité Francophone Ballroom
Fashion For Freedom is an annual event presented by Poiema Productions with all proceeds going towards a chosen charity. Each Gala is a fabulous evening that includes our Fashion Design Competition, entertainment, delicious food and drinks, and much more... all for a great cause.
This year was Poiema's fourth Fashion For Freedom and we chose A21 as our charity! A21 is a global anti-human trafficking organization and we wanted to join their efforts to end slavery! Our fashion show competition featured designs by local artists with talents of all levels who created pieces using anything-but-fabric, in this year’s theme borrowed from A21: Reach, Rescue, and Restore. The evening included a collection by local designer, DOM FOOL, as well as "Create," an art exhibit featuring local artists. Artists sold their work at the event as well as donated pieces for silent auction in support of A21. This was a great opportunity to purchase a one-of-a-kind piece of art while supporting local artists AND raising money for a great cause!
Drumroll please... at Fashion For Freedom 2018, we raised $7690.00 for A21! This was an incredible success and we couldn't have done it without the generosity of our artists, designers, volunteers, and of course to all those who came and spent the evening with us. Thank you for donating your time and your money to such a great cause. We know we made a difference.
